Why did your 1990 gmc suburban die in the middle of driving it and now it won't start.?

I had one that did that and the problem was the electric fuel pump which is mounted in the gas tank. I mean I was driving down the expressway happy as can be one minute and the next second the engine died. No hiccupping, or sputtering, it just died.
