because god wanted to test them and see if they really loved him or not and its like the same thing true in life just cus someone says you'll get it doesn't mean it is just going to get handed to you all the time most of the time you have to work for it or earn it and i think god wanted them to prove that they loved him even though he already knew how it would turn out.
