They broke away from his union of states.
The south didnt have a king, but a president. Jefferson Davis was the president of the Confederate States of America.

The US officially split during the Civil War in 1861. The southern states did secede from the Union, being the United States. When a secession occurs there is a withdrawl from the original entity. Thus forming the Confederate States of America whose president was Jefferson Davis. The United States, of course, at the SAME time was run by President Abraham Lincoln.
because the north didnt want the blacks so they shoved the problem down south
because they didnt want him to make slavery illegal !
It applied to slaves in the states that were in rebellion (where, of course, Lincoln had no authority at that time). It did not apply to slaves in the four slave-states that had remained loyal. Lincoln did not want to upset powerful slave-owners in these states, and drive them into the arms of the Confederacy.
The blacks lived evry where around North America,But only a few states didnt have slavery.
It didnt, that was when Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by someone who thought that if he killed Abraham he would be be helping the south, but it actually had the opposite effect! :)
He didnt he died and left Mary Todd Lincoln a widow
the southern states wanted slavery and the north didnt. south was afraid Abraham Lincoln would end slavery totally, so, 7 states suceeded and formed the Confederate states of America. the north was only for the slaves being involved because of Abraham Lincoln. ______________________________________________________________ Actually some Northern States had slaves throughout the entire war and these slaves were still enslaved after the war ended. The war was more about self determination and States rights. Abraham Lincoln made a masterful move turning the war effort into a slave based war and still not freeing any slaves. The Emancipation proclamation was an attempt by the north to rid itself off slave holdings by converting them into humans (they were considered property). This kept the North of feeding and keeping captured slaves. The horrible concept of slavery finally ended (in the U.S.A.) the following December after the civil war ended with the 13th amendment. Some countries still practice slavery today, but not to the scale seen in America.
