Many believed that it was a "European" war and that it would never affect the U.S. There was an arrogance among the media and certain liberals who believed that Germany was about to stop their aggression. With every nation they conquered, the belief was, "Well surely that's the last one." We now know that Hitler intended to rule all of Europe, build power then he intended to take over the world... including the U.S. and the rest of the American continents.
Unfortunately, we have failed to learn the lessons of WW2 and radical Islam is poised to do exactly the same thing.
also,
if you think about it, the U.S didn't really had a reason or reasons to fight also we were already really involved in WW2 because we supply other allies also and we did what we could and at that time, we only care about the U.S and our allies and have never could of prevented the Holocaust

Im not sure an exact number, but definently more then the Tuskegee Airmen...also world war 2 was a similar scenario of world war 1 , except world war 1 was near the great depression so supplies were low. world war 2 had more resources and more people were healthy enough and able to enter in the armed forces, so there were probably more pilots than in world war 1?
historians are fighting over this concept, so it is to be determined.
world war 2 was more of a world war. It was fought on more fronts and included more countries.
Taking place from 1914 to 1918, the Great War (or, World War I) was not in fact more protracted than other major wars that had taken place earlier, that is, during the 19th century. For example, the first fifteen years of the 19th century were almost entirely dedicated to war between France and other nations in Europe; the Crimean War lasted nearly three years; the American Civil War raged for four years. The Great War was, however, much more destructive.

The U.S. was never unable to enter World War 2. It had the resources and manpower. The reason why the U.S. didn't enter the war at first is because they wanted to remain neutral rather than get involved in foreign affairs.
