Potatoes weren't something that the Pilgrims were used to eating. They'd been in the New World for less than a year. They still were learning their way around the names and uses of the different edibles in their new home. It was only much later that the potato became a standard in the diet of colonial America.
The pilgrims didn't eat mashed potatoes because they did not have potatoes. Potatoes were neither introduced nor grown in North America during their Thanksgiving feast in 1621.

Yes they did. The Puritans didnt believe in catholics and didnt want to yet the pilgrims did,

the pilgrims and the nativa American tribe got along well bacause they started trading and the tribe didnt get in the way of the pilgrims.
Why would the American natives attack the Pilgrims?? Most tribes were friendly toward others.
Pilgrims typically prepare for their journey with physical, mental, and spiritual readiness. This may involve researching the pilgrimage's significance, undergoing physical training for the rigors of the journey, and engaging in prayer or meditation to cultivate a sense of purpose and reflection. Packing appropriate gear and supplies, as well as understanding the customs and requirements of the pilgrimage site, are also crucial steps in preparation.

The Indians didnt quite like the pilgrims for barging in on their homeland. But after the Indians saw the pilgrims plight they helped them by teaching them how to make things. In gratitude the Pilgrims invited the Indians for a 3 day feast aka Thanksgiving.
