In the chaos surrounding the collapse of the Third Reich, Josef Mengele - the infamous Doctor Who performed inhumane experiments on Jewish inmates at several concentration camps - and many other Nazis managed to escape. We only really single out Mengele because he was of importance in the Nazi Regime.
Other prominent Nazis, including Martin Bormann (Hitler's secretary and 'yes man') and Arthur Axmann (Leader of the Hitler Youth) escaped from Berlin after Hitler committed suicide. The reason they escaped is because the Russians were still attacking areas that they believed were still important to the Nazis, like the Reichstag, instead of the Fuhrerbunker, thereby allowing many Nazis to flee Germany.
Also, it was put forth in Ladislas Farago's book Aftermath: Martin Bormann and the Fourth Reich that all nations of the world were interested in bringing fleeing Nazis to justice after the Second World War, but didn't want to put forth the resources to track them down.
If all you're concerned about is justice, Josef Mengele got what he deserved on February 7th, 1979, when he drowned, swimming in the sea in Paraguay, Brazil.
