Why does ponyboy run away?

Pony was afraid and unsure of what to do, he looked to Johnny for any idea, but Johnny was set on going to to Dally for advice. Dally gave them supplies for running away (money, gun, cloths), which sealed the deal.

Do you think Dally is a hero because of what he did?

No, Dallas Winston could never be a hero. He didn't want to save the children who were about to be burned alive. He was madwhen Ponyboy and Johnny went in the burning church to help. Dally was being a friend when he helped Pony and Johnny out of the burning building.

How did dally get out of the hospital?

Dally was so sad about Johnny's death. He was a tough guy but after johnny died he couldn't handle himself. Then he went to a store and ripped a magazine and the a guy said that he have to pay for this ,and then Dally got mad and he took his gun and show it him and he said he is gonna kill him.then that guy called the cops... the cops Shot him and he died.then pony boy and the other greasers came and they say Dally is dead!

When does Dally die in The Outsiders?

When Johnny passed away from his serious injuries, Dally lost control and robbed a store. He really wasn't sure if he wanted to take it that far, but he realized that he had lost the only person he loved. After he robbed the store, the police were immediately after him. He called up the gang to come witness his death. Once the police caught up to him in the park, he pulled out his unloaded gun and pretended to shoot at the police, as a reaction the police immediately fired at Dallas Winston, shooting him dead to the ground, with his gang by his side.

Why can't Ponyboy accept Johnny s death?

Johnny was all Dally really loved. He didn't have his family. Johnny was the Greaser he was closest to. After Johnny died, Dally couldn't accept it. All of his feelings crammed up inside of him, all of the pain from losing Johnny. It blew up inside of him. And I also think he was really angry because the first time he helps out and does good (by helping save the kids in the burning church) something bad happens. He didn't think there was any good in the world so there was nothing worth living for.

Johnny and Ponyboy were hiding in it and they were smoking. They didnt put out the fire on their cigeratte so it made the church light on fire. Read page 91 in chapter 6 and even Johnny and Pony say they started it from a dropped cigeratte.

Why was johnnys dying so difficult for dally to handle?

Johnny was sometimes described as the glue that held the whole group together. Dallas really didnt have much to live for - no mother, a drunk for a father, sleeping on the streets since the age of 10, and constantly in and out of jail. Johnny was his one and only hope - Johnny was an inspiration and almost like a little brother to him. When Johnny died, Dallas cracked, and couldn't handle it, it was really difficult because he realised he really had nothing left. He had known Johnny for a long time too, and Johnny was so pure and innocent, it reminded Dallas of everything he wasn't.
