In general, baptists believe that anyone that believes and accepts Jesus as his personal Savior is the bride of Christ. The term comes from the explanation of the relationship of a man for his family. A husband will lay down his life for his wife and family just as Jesus laid down his life for all of mankind. A husband will provide for his wife and family and wants the best for them all.
I am not a baptist but i do believe that we are the 'bride' of God. The Bible says that God is married to the church and the church is a gathering of people who believe in God. So in a way we are married to God. The Bible also says that a man and his wife are one. This means that we are one with God. It says that a man is no greater than his Lord, but it also says that the least shall be the greatest and the greatest shall be the least in God. Which means that in God (believing in God) we are greater than God. But again it says that we are one with God. My conclusion is that you can believe in either one for this is your choice.
The bride of Christ is the church which are those who believe in and follow Christ.
You really don't "convert". You have to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. You have to believe it in your heart.
The Bride of Christ is a metaphor for the Church.
Those who truly believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, Gave his life as payment for our sin and was raised from the dead are collectively known as The Church. The Church will be joined with Christ during " End Times" in a symbolic wedding that will link Christ to His " Bride" ( The Church) for eternity. This is my understanding of the scriptures found in the book of Revelation concerning the Bride of Jesus Christ. Hope this helps.
John the Baptist announced that Jesus was the Christ (ie the "Messiah"[Hebrew] or "Christ" [Greek]), as also foretold in Old Testament prophecies.
Ackerville Baptist Church of Christ was created in 1848.
I am a Baptist because I need to be rooted and grounded in the Word of God, and I believe that the best way to interpret the Bible is to take it literally. However, I am a Independent fundamental Baptist, so I may not believe the same as Southern Baptists, though I am in the South. I am a Baptist also because I believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, and that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that He is the fulfillment of all of the Old Testament prophecies. I am a Baptist because I feel that Baptist churches, Southern Baptist churches specifically, stand strong by the truth of the Bible. The Bible is God's Word and if we don't follow it, then aren't we acting like we don't believe it? We can't pick and choose what parts of the Bible we want to follow. I haven't found yet a doctrinal statement in Southern Baptist beliefs that is not supported by the Bible.
Wrong St. John. It was the Apostle which wrote the Book of Revelation. The Bride was the Church.
