The pope is not our God but he is God's vicar here on earth. The Catholic 'interpretation' of the Bible does not come from the pope, it comes from a 2000 year history of beliefs and the studies of countless brilliant theologians, including such names as St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas. They have constantly reaffirmed the Church's teachings of the Bible. So, if your own personal interpretations of the Bible conflict with the Catholic view, your opinion carries no weight in view of the vast number of brilliant men who have reaffirmed the correctness of Catholic explanations of Sacred Scripture.
