Another Answer from our community:

Catholics support the Church because It is the Mystical Body of Christ, and the means God has established to forgive men their sins and bring them to salvation. Abuse takes place anywhere sinners may happen to be, which means that it can happen in Church as well as anywhere else, though it is more scandalous when it occurs in a Church. I would suggest that you read the parable of the wheat and the tares.

In most cases, Catholics continue to support churches where abuses such as paedophilia have taken place, simply because they do not know the facts. Often it is only decades later that victims come forward and publicly accuse the priest, who by then may have been moved to a different parish where he will probably continue to offend.

In many cases, the Catholic hierarchy is told of the abuse at the time of its occurrence or reasonably soon afterwards but, in spite of a legal obligation to provide this information to the police, chooses to forgive the priest concerned or deal with the matter internally. The result is what we call a cover-up. The perpetrator goes unpunished, the victims suffer in silence, often to commit suicide in later life, and the public continues to trust a priest who should never be trusted.

Why do churches ask for money?

An organized church of any kind, by definition, is formed and maintained by its own members. Churches in the West generally don't get money from (or give to) the government, so churches ask for the support of its members to pay for the publicly used trappings of that religion: most commonly the building, furnishing and/or maintenance of a place to meet, religious garments and paraphernalia, and in larger churches the salary of a dedicated clergy. Many churches maintain some financial transparency for the benefit of its members, as without it donations are prone to abuse and embezzlement.

Why don't vampires like churches?

In folklore, vampires are often associated with evil or dark forces, contrasting with the holy or sacred nature of churches. The religious symbols and sanctity of a church are believed to repel vampires, making it a place where they are unable or unwilling to enter.

Why did calverts want more Catholics to settle in Maryland?

What group has the most ornate churches?

As you say "church" rather than "place of worship", i guess you're referring to Christianity. Traditionally, Catholics had the most ornate churches which were then taken over by protestants then completely whitewashed. If you want the most ornate places of worship, I would suggest Sikhism, but it is impossible to generalise on such a large scale.
