Why do Christians believe that they do not need prophets or apostles anymore when in 1 Cor 4 it says that they will remain until the saints reach a unity of the faith which they never did?

I read 1 Corinthians chapter 4 from three different translations of The Bible. I did so looking to see if there was something in there that indicated how long apostleships would continue. Paul has good wishes for the Corinthians. But what of the factions, the dissensions, among them?
