Afterwards, Christians use the Bible to help them in their everyday lives. Sometimes Bible verses can have relevance to you in your life and can help you know where you are going in life. The Bible is also used as an act of worship because Christians believe the Bible was written by God, so therefore should be read - God giving us advice on our daily lives. A Bible verse is also used in Christenings, Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals. This is because each of these things is about taking a new step in life, or in the case of funerals, ending it. The Bible is the Christians Holy Book, and like the Koran, should be read, studied and discussed.

=== === The verses above apply to a Christian person throughout their spiritual walk. For example, I know many Christians who regularly read their Bible, many on a daily basis. It is their most precious possession and the first thing they would grab if their house was burning down and they had to flee. This only grows, not diminishes, after one becomes a Christian.

Many Christians throughout their lives also memorize verses or portions of scripture.

On a personal level I would say, that after 35 or so years of being a Christian that it is more precious than ever. I cannot get enough of it and am daily making new discoveries since there is so much to discover. Spurgeon, the English preacher, said, 'Give me the Bible and I'll preach for a thousand years.' I know what he means.

On a different level, it is precisely because of the dangers of deception that a Christian will constantly be 'in the word', as a guard against errors of various kinds, including forms of hypnosis. This need to be vigilant also never has an end in this life on earth.

Christians are explicitly encouraged to 'test everything' and explicitly encouraged to use their mind. "I was brought up in a Christian family, and have believed in God all my life. But it is much easier to understand God when you are older, rather than when you are 2. Studying the Bible has definatly brought me through difficult and scary situations, and given adice to people. I also study the Bible every night to help me get to grips with the unfathomable amazingness of God."
