Disney can get away with having higher prices because they know people want the DVDs badly.
They also lock their movies in the "Vault" so that all sales stop. This creates a demand for the movie. When Disney unlock the movie they can make bundles of money because everyone rushes to buy the new DVDs and to watch the 3D revisions.
