They howl because they can't talk. Mine howls a lot. She howls to greet me when I come home. She howls when my other dog won't come inside, etc. I heard that in 1930's some of them were interbred with wolves so maybe that's a contributing factor.

german shepherds have a predisposition to whine in their genes as a form of communication. it is possible to limit this through training but cannot be totally eliminated. it is something any potential german shepherd owner should contemplate before getting a gsd.

Almost all dogs whimper. Although there has been one dog which has been bred not to be able to bark o whimper, all dogs do
