In short, Krishna is popular because he was a human incarnation (or avatar) of God (Lord Vishnu) -- his message is most clearly outlined in the works, the Bhagavad Gita and the Uddhava Gita. The first work is the most well-known work of Hindu smriti scripture; the second is lesser-known outside India, but continues the teachings that were first elaborated on in the Bhagavad Gita. In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna reveals to Arjuna (his human companion) his Divine Form - the true image of God, described in great detail and compared to the image of thousands of suns rising at once. Krishna is Popular Because He Is GOD " The supreme personality of god head "

Hare Krishna is a Vedic or Hindu religion that is universal religion for all the people of all the times and places.

No practice of the Vedic dharma takes away the freedom (of thought, speech, movement, assembly, or action) of anyone else. Only this Vedic dharma has the potential to bring peace in the world at personal or global level. The Vedics (i.e Hindus) have never forced conversion on anyone any time in millenniums. It is the most ancient religion. The religion is spread by free will, not by force or enticements.

There are a couple of choices here. "Hari Bol" ! which means "say the name of the Lord" can be Seen as one. T Then there is "Hare Krishna"! which would be the most likely answer. Although as far as it goes "Hare Krishna" is part of a 16 word Mantra. "Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare. Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare". The Hare Krishna Mantra or Maha Mantra "Great Mantra" is what followers of Srilla Prabhupada and the Gaudiya Vaishnava lineage chant on the streets today and in the 1960s and since Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, an Avatar who came to introduce this Nama Sankirtan Yoga brought with him in the 15th Century.
