Why do I feel so emotionally numb even though I think I used to love both my family and friends?

- Not all people have the luxury of going through a pain-free life and it depends how much a person has gone through in their life as to whether they can come out the other side as a whole person or a fractured person that builds up a wall of protection which makes them appear emotionally numb. Also some people may go through bouts of feeling emotionally numb without good reason and, in time it will pass. Some medications such as antidepressants; anxiety medications; some heart medications, etc., can cause a person to lose some of their emotions. If you feel the emotional numbness is getting worse and there is no apparent reason such as not getting along with family or being hurt by friends then you would be wise to seek out a psychologist to determine why you feel this way as you could be depressed. Depression can be different in each person, but the main symptoms are: lack of interest in family; friends; social functions; sleeplessness or sleeping too much; lack of appetite or eating too much and a feeling of uselessness and hopelessness. If you are any type of medications you should discuss your concerns with your family physician.

Yup. In many ways. Emotionally, physically, socially. Think drugs, staying away from friends, alienating family, depression (caused by yourself), cutting yourself, suicide, etc.

If they call you sister you think fondly of you; as if you are family. They have no romantic interest in you though. They will be your friend and if you do need protection you will get it from them.

No, I don't think its disrespectful at all. In fact, I think it shows more Respect and maturity than anything else. I feel by your attending your classmate's funeral even though you weren't friends, shows that you are willing to let 'by gone's' be 'by gone's' and also that your classmate's Life held Meaning and at the Very least, you are showing respect to the grieving Parents. I think your attendance is commendable.
How do abusive men trick their spouse to not leave them?
They isolate them from family and friends so that they think they don't have anyone to turn for help. They make them feel that they can't survive without them. They threaten them or someone they love if the spouse makes an effort to leave. They emotionally blackmail them by threatening suicide. They promise to change.
