Losing weight is all about calories in vs calories out. It's that simple. If you are eating less calories daily than your body is burning daily you will lose weight. This is a very slow process however and you will lose muscle as well as fat if you don't exercise, which you don't want. It is always better to lose fat (not weight) by eating a little less and exercising more. About 2 pounds per week is a safe amount. If you do exercise then don't go by the scales because inch for inch muscle is heavier than fat, you will notice a difference in the way your clothes fit.
