Basically because the Greek word used in The Bible (Hades) simply means grave. It is from Hades that the English word Hell comes from. So in the interpretation of the Bible, someone got it wrong and decided that when you die you go to hell. In the King James version however, it notes that Jesus was in Hades (grave) for three days before he was raised up. Would Jehovah send Jesus to an actual hell? And what kind of loving God would send anyone to an eternal torment? There is mention of a different kind of eternal destruction in Revelation...Gehenna. Which is the lake of fire that Satan will be hurled into. Gehenna was also a place located outside the city walls of Jerusalem that burnt rubbish, dead bodies, animal remains (etc) The fire burned day and night (hence eternal fire) Hope that helps
Hell does exist. It is the grave. A burning fiery hell managed by Satan, red, pointy-tailed, with horns, is not a Bible teaching. God is love, therefore he would never punish by eternal suffering. The ultimate punishment is non-existence.
Jehovah's Witnesses believe death to be a total state of non-existence and hold that the "hell" mentioned in scripture to be simply reference to the common grave of mankind. They reject the teaching of eternal torment as unscriptural.
Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in an actual place called hell where people are tortured and consciously punished for eternity. They embrace the doctrine known as conditional immortality, and that people sleep in between death and resurrection, rather than their "souls" remaining conscious and immediately going to heaven or hell. They believe "hell" to mean the common grave of mankind (since two of the words that "hell" was translated from actually do just mean "grave") , where all of the dead are resting. And they believe that "Gehenna" (the other word that hell was translated from) or the "lake of fire" symbolizes eternal destruction, not eternal torment. So, according to their beliefs, the wicked will not be resurrected, and will thrown into the symbolic lake of fire and be totally destroyed.
They believe they will.
Because jehovahs witnesses are pacifist and therefore anti military and therefore do not believe that a person that participated in the military deserves to be honored.
