The reason is that becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses is not simply joining others in a religion, though it is that as well. It is the sign of entering a relationship with Jehovah God, the God of The Bible. In fact, no one can become baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses unless they have declared to the elders of their congregation that they have dedicated their lives to Jehovah God. For us, baptism is only a symbol of this dedication to God.

So for someone to say later, either verbally or by letter, that he no longer wants to be considered to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses, we consider it to be a betrayal of Jehovah God, a disloyalty to him as a person. We Witnesses, who are loyal to him, and believe that he is using Jehovah's Witnesses exclusively as his people today, consider this betrayal of our God just as serious as any sin for which one can get disfellowshipped.

Those who have disassociated themselves don't always understand this and think that they should be respected by us for simply changing their minds, but they forget how attached we are to Jehovah and how much faith we have in him. For me personally, a person who disassociates himself is sinning even more than if he committed premarital or extramarital sex, or began smoking, or taking drugs for pleasure. He is rejecting my faith, after having believed it for a time.

The Bible speaks of such ones this way: "They went out from us, but they were not of our sort; for if they had been of our sort, they would have remained with us. But they went out that it might be shown up that not all are of our sort."

"-1 John 2:19.

Jehovah's Witnesses are not simply a political party, a social club or a family tradition. We are an association of Christians dedicated to Jehovah God, the Father of Jesus Christ, and we view that attachment to him as sacred, no matter who renounces it.

If you have twenty elderly christians in one room a new persons comes to the centre and is a Jehovahs witness how do we intergrate the new person without offending the other 20 or so people who have b?

I grew up as a Jehovahs witness and I always felt worse when people made a huge deal in making thing separate. All people are different in their beliefs and some are more strict then others, but in general Jehovahs witnesses are kind and will resectfully back away if there is anything that they feel uncomfortable with. Just talk to the person, I am sure they will let you know how they feel, and where they draw the line. For the most part though they will not take part of any holiday events and if they have been practiceing long they will be use to not being involved.

What would a Jehovahs Witness do after learning that the other person that they had been exchanging emails with said they were an atheist?

nothing at all no one said you cant be friends with different religions its not a problem Further: Take the example of so many evangelizers of the past. Ministers have been all over the world, to spread the Good News. Remember Christ sent his followers first to the Jews, then beginning with Cornelius, the Gentiles, not to fellow Christians. We are cautioned scripturally against apostate, disfellowshipped and disassociated persons. Conversations with those who have rejected the truth are usually not fruitful. Atheists might learn, very much the way we have.

How many Jehovah's Witnesses are in South Africa?

According to the worldwide report for 2006, there were a peak of 78,877 active JW's in South Africa. That is a ratio of one out of every 560 persons in South Africa is an active JW. Note: we only count those who are baptised as a JW and actively engaged in the witnessing work as being of that number. Others who are passively associated with JW's, those who may have become inactive in the faith, unbaptised persons who are studying with JW's, or children who are not old enough to have personally accepted the faith, are not counted.

Here are the participants to the making of a formal will in just about every state: 1. Testator: the person whose will it is. 2. Executor: the person who is designated to administer the estate of the testator. 3. Witnesses: the persons who observe the testator signing the will to verify it (the number of witnesses and who they can be varies from state to state). 4. Notary: the official whose signature and seal is a verification that the testator signed the will and the witnesses witnessed the will, in accordance with local law. Some states may still apply masculine and feminine words (testator/testatrix, executor/executrix).
