In Islam there is a prohibition against images of animate beings. This has been loosely interpreted in the Muslim world, but a tradition that developed early on was that if you are going to draw/paint any kind of religious scene, you must not show the face of Muhammad or the Angel Gabriel, out of respect for them (and because it is forbidden to draw pictures of animate beings in the first place!). This has become extremely embedded in Muslim culture, so much so that if a Muslim sees a drawing of Muhammad, that shows his face, he is instantly agitated.

I will be honest, I don't call anyone Muslims because of a name they have or because they call themselves Muslims or because they speak Arabic. You should all know what the word Muslim means, Muslim means someone that is believing in Allah and his prophet, and believes that there is no God but Allah and there is no prophet after Muhammad. Many who call themselves Muslims, believe there is a prophet after Muhammad pbuh and those who believe things like that are out of Islam or are not Muslims. So I will talk about the Sunni Muslims. Sunni Muslims believe in Allah and his prophet Muhammad and that there is no prophet after Muhammad and no God but Allah. But many actually never pray, never fast, never opened the Quran, but still call themselves Muslims. The Sunni Muslim population is 1.5 billion worldwide, but only 0.5% to 2% are true Sunni Muslims. That is right, there are 15 million true Muslims only and this is what I care about. This is what I will count and I don't care about the ones who call themselves Muslims and never follow Islam. The true Muslim population is 15 million, Just 0.21% of the global population. This is probably the real Muslim population for me.

The name Muhammedanism is inappropriate for several reasons: 1) The faith is already given it's name by the scripture itself: Islam 2) Muhammedanism implies two false things: a) That Muslims worship Muhammad. This is false because Muslims worship only the One God. Muhammad was a human Messenger of God, only. b) That Muhammad invented this religion. He did not. It is the same message of all the true prophets of God. So said Muhammad, as well as the Qur'an.
