Yes it is a way of respect. When entering people's homes and the Masjid they take off their shoes. Muslims don't want to get the rugs and the floor they pray on dirty with dust or minerals/particles from the outside world. They are supposed to keep their prayer rugs or special prayer sanction clean from anything that isn't pure or anything that is dirty.
Taking off shoes is practiced by Muslims as non Muslims in some countries in some homes. This is to avoid bringing dirt or dust through shoes to inside homes.
Take off their shoes.

to take your shoes of
No. This is a special prayer in which only Muslims can take part.
The mosques is an extremely sacred place for the Muslims. It is meant for worship of Almighty Allah, learning or reciting of the Qur'an, or remembrance of Almighty God. The Muslims keep it neat and clean. The Muslims come to pray, but they have to do ablution (wash their hands, mouths, nose, feet etc) before offering prayers. That is the purpose of washing area. It is NOT a part of the mosque. Shoe racks are for placing shoes as they may be dirty. Racks should be placed out of the Mosque Room.
Muslims take Wu'Du before they enter the Mosque. Wu'Du is where Muslims wash their face, feet, and body to become clean enough to pray and to enter the Mosque. After they take Wu'Du, they put on clean and appropriate clothes (Hijab and long clothing for women, and clean pants and shirt for men).
Removing shoes before entering a house is usually a cultural rather than a religious tradition. It is common to many Eastern countries, as well as Scandinavia. However, some religions require removing shoes before entering a house of worship or a temple. Muslims remove their shoes before entering a mosque, Hindus remove shoes before entering a temple, and Sikhs remove shoes before entering a gurudwara.
It is customary, in many countries in the world and in many homes, to remove shoes upon entering a house; for practical purposes. It ensures that no dirt or dust is brought in on the shoes and this is considered to be respectful towards the host/hostess. Religiously, people remove their shoes as a sign of respect when standing on ground that is believed to be holy e.g. Moses was instructed to remove his sandals when in the presence of God (story of the Burning Bush which was afire but not consumed). Not only Muslims but Sikhs, Hindus and Buddhists removed their footwear when praying; it is a sign of humility and respect.
It's for the muslims to take their shoes off as it is respect to be in a mosque without shoes.
The Muslims worship ONE Amighty God (ALlah in Arabic). They offer prayer five times a day. They keep fast during the month of Ramzan. They perform Hajj. They pay Zakat and take part in acts of charity. They serve mankind.
First of all, Muslims have some duties to do toward God, worshiping Him everyday is what Muslims do, Muslims pray 5 times a day, 1 prayer at the dawn time and one prayer at noonday, and another one is called Asr prayer which comes after noonday prayer in few hours, and one prayer when the sun goes down ( sunset ) and the final one is after the sunset prayer in few hours. P.S: Muslims pray to their God, worshiping only Him, they don\'t worship the sun or moon or anything else, only God, and please know that prayers usually don\'t take more than 5 minutes each, which Muslims believe it\'s a very short time to worship God so Muslims do other prayers that Muhammad used to pray, so they can get closer to God, but any other prayer else the 5 prayers in the beginning is considered optional :)
They don't. The only requirement in Judaism to wash the feet before worship, is for the Kohanim in the Holy Temple (which is no longer standing). See Exodus ch.30. It is Muslims who wash their feet before entering a mosque.
