Ramadan is an essential month that Muslims must fast. It came in Sura Al Baqara and many other surahs about Muslims fasting the month of Ramadan. As you know Muslims follow the example of the Prophet p.b.u.h. And since the Prophet p.b.u.h. fasted we also fasted. Other than that it is also one of the 5 pillars of Islam.
