Actually they don't sweat more than other athletes. It's just that the uniform is much "skimpier" so you can see them sweat so much more. Also, the uniforms in other sports are more absorbent. Lastly, this is the only major sport (at least in the U.S.) that you get to look right at their armpits!

No, they shouldn't. For one thing, it blocks their sweat glands. Even if it just says "deodorant," rather than anti-perspirant, it still blocks the the sweat glands.
