from dropping them, ceranic is very brittle
Can Spark Plug Removal Crack a Cylinder? No, spark plugs screw into a threaded hole in the cylinder "heads," and therefore cannot crack a cylinder [wall around the pistons].NOTE however, that if spark plugs are not removed and reinstalled PROPERLY, this process can "strip" and ruin the threads in the cylinder "HEAD."
poor installation most likely
=why do my plugs keep cracking in a 2000 for explorer....changed four already
The only time I've seen cracked spark plugs was putting them in or taking them out with the socket not perfectly straight.
Mostly spark plug insulators are made from a substance known as sintered alumina, which is a very hard ceramic material with a high dielectric strength.
Jack the front off the van up, properly support the van with jack stands. remove left wheel then remove the splash covers in the wheel well, should expose the manifold. Use a ratchet an extension and a universal plus a spark plug socket remove the plugs. and reinstall you must use the universal (wobble) due to the working angles on install of the new plugs... or the will crack the ceramic on the plug
Check your plug gap and that you didn't crack a plug.
those were probably the original spark plugs that came with the tracker when it was first off the line.....you are lucky your car is still alive.
you get a spark plug socket or one of similar size to fit the spark plugs, then you just put it in the correct location and screw it in snuggly(not too tight cause you will break the ceramic casing), then connect all the spark plug wires
About 45-60 minutes, depending on how often one has done the work. The driver's and middle rear bank plugs are changed by feel from the driver's side of the engine. the passenger side rear bank plug must be changed from the passenger side approach by feel. Be careful not to crack the ceramic insulators when tightening the new plugs.
when do you change spark plugs
the transmition ,is probably not adjusted to the spark plugs,or their not the right spark plugs
