They should just dim. By turning the headlights on, the engineers assumed it would be dark. Often there's a knob or wheel on the dash where you can adjust the brightness of your gauge lights.
You can only turn off the headlights by applying the emergency brake. When the emergency brake is on, the headlights will not light. Otherwise the best of my expererience is that they are on all the time. If you have remote start, put the emergency brake on before you leave the vehicle and when you remote start it, the headlights will not be on, but the driving lights (if switch is on) will be on as well as the parking lights.
pretty much, if your impalas like mine, when you start the car, your headlights will come on, but you should have a little nob to the left of your steering wheel. it should be in the middle, if you pull it out, your lights will stay on, even after turning off your car, if you push it all the way in, your lights will turn off, you can also turn it to adjust brightness of dome lights and dash lights.
how do headlights operate? how do headlights operate?
no They do make kits to where when you turn your high beams on all 4 lights come on.
What make and model is it? does it have a "dome override button"?
Turn your headlights on. Walk to the back of the vehicle and look for any lights that are out. If the lights are all on. Have someone press the break pedal and look at the light again. If any lights are out replace them.
I think faulty light switch.
I had a similar problem with a Pontiac some years back. It was a bad dashboard ground. It may not be it, but I would start there.
Its possible that your brightness for the dash lights and such is turned all the way down. Find the dimmer switch and turn it to a brighter setting and see if that works. Good luck!
On the 2002 Impala you need to first pull the thing that turns on the headlights manually like half way or all the way and then hit the fog button and the fog lights will come on.
You must have two headlights, all other lights are in fact not headlights and just additional light aids.
if you look under the right side...fuse panel, open and pull down the plastic flap...fuses are clearly marked...but it is more likely the muti fuction switch the one you use for headlights ,turn signals,etc...inside the steering column if you look under the right side...fuse panel, open and pull down the plastic flap...fuses are clearly marked...but it is more likely the muti fuction switch the one you use for headlights ,turn signals,etc...inside the steering column
