Some will claim that no one can get charged up over a Maple Leaf, but the truth is that Canadians are Patriotic even though that they don't seem like it to other countries. (How to test this) Go into a Canadian pub (In Canada) and yell CANADA SUCKS you will see how fast they get Patriotic and how fast they can fight.

As a man who had Canadian grandparents, and who grew up on the NY-Ontario border, I can definitely say that there are some differences between Canadians and Americans. The New England states are probably the closest to the mentality of Canadians; in comparison to Americans in the South. Canadians have a great sense of what is good for their fellow Canadians: e.g. healthcare. They believe that it is the responsibility of everyone in the country to make sure that all have equal access without paying for it individually. Probably a majority of Americans cannot seem to agree on an equitable healthcare, or claim that it is not a right as it is in Canada where all are treated the same. Canadians are not as hung up on political party differences, but try to work together to solve the country's problems. Their political system, not perfect, like any other in the world, is based on the British system. Canadians seem to be much better informed on the world and on the American system, but Americans seem to be not well informed on matters in the world, nor are they informed about Canada. Just ask them about Canada's capital, Ottawa, and see how many know about it. The gun issue in the States is a big issue of difference. Canadians own guns; mostly hunting guns, but very few own handguns. The amount of gun crimes are about 1/20th of those in the U.S. The vast majority of Canadians do not see the need to have guns for protection, nor is the "right to bear arms" valid.
To be able to refuse to use a German word for anything made people feel more American.
Canadians when visiting other countries act as guests (or should) but other people seem to make themselves at home. We are unique but seem to be getting too loud and not remembering just who we are. We don't so shut up
Many mundane things seem amazing to some Americans.
The percent of Americans who eat locally grown food is not known. Most people seem to just go to the grocery store to get their food, although in the past few years it does seem like more and more people are visiting their local farmers markets.
