Animals either have parental care or they don't. Animals just don't get up and leave young on a whim. That's just the way they evolved. Just about any species of snake or turtle lack parental care. So I'll just pick a couple, rattlesnake and Box turtle. About the only animal known to abandon its young is Homo sapiens.
Higher animals, like the white-tailed deer occasionally leave a fawn. We think the doe somehow senses there is something wrong with it. But, this is rare. Even when humans mess with a fawn, the doe will still take care of it.
That is a good answer, but there are more reasons that animals abandon the young. They are all programed with parental behaviors. They either can't take care of there young, or, in many cases they discard the runt. The panda for example. It was born with the knowledge of taking care of its cubs. But, if it gives birth to more than one cub, it doesn't make enough milk. So, it picks its favorite and takes care of it.
they reject their young because someone has either touched it or it is probably going to die. if their young does not have the same scent as the mother, they will reject them. my hamster ate her young because they didn't have the same scent as her.
They might feel stressed,
Im not sure but a similer thing happened to my neighbours dog
Abandon animals can live anywhere. Often they live where they were left.
Horses don't "abandon" there young! If they are wild horses the mustang leader makes the young leave once it has reached a certain age so, he doesnt challenge the mustag frhi hard earned mares.( girls )
After a few weeks, they do.

We are mammals and do not abandon our young. Mammals (within the animal kingdom) nurture their young until they are weaned and are able to exist on their own.
Knowone should abandon a domestic animal , thay rely on the human population to help and take care of them
crocodiles abandoned there young once they have hatched and there mothers have carried them into the water
They don't. Dragonflies abandon their eggs after laying them.
Pandas can have up from 1-2 babies a year but after that they need to wait 2 years before they can have anymore, which means that they need to abandon the babies they have already or abandon the newborns. I dont think its very fair because they have to choose which babies they want to keep. By Albany
