Babies that are born on or relatively near their due date are "most of the time" healthier that premature babies. Premature babies are born before there due date by weeks or even months. If they are born early, they wouldn't have grown to their full capability while still in their mom's stomach. Generally, if a woman is having early contractions and is heading into labor, the doctors will give her a medication to stop the pain/contractions.

All in all, babies that are born premature aren't as fully grown as babies who are born on time.

Is it true that chances of baby making it at 8 months are slim than at 6 and 7 months and why is that?

That is backwards. A baby has a better chance of survival the longer the fetus can proceed in the pregnancy, e.g. 9 months. So an 8th month fetus has a far better chance than a 7 or 8 month fetus.

How many babies can a meerkat have?

In meerkat society, meerkat babies are called pups. The average for a female meerkat to have is three, though she can can have up to 11 in 31 months. Right after the babies have weaned off of it. However this is not recommended because the mom will get stressed. You should wait at least two months (the longer the better) in-between litters.
