All organisms, need to excrete waste (that is to poop) regardless of whether they move or not.
Babies consume food yes, so with all food comes waste products and these waste products need to be removes as they are of no use to the body so they are excreted. (food doesn't just allow us to move. It enables us to live, to supply all our tissues with the proteins and hydration they need, allowing them to work efficiently - i wont go into detail but i guess you get the idea).

Babies may hide when they poop because they are starting to develop a sense of privacy and independence. They may also be exploring their surroundings and learning about cause and effect.

No, babies do not poop in the placenta. Babies receive nutrients and oxygen from the placenta through the umbilical cord, and waste products are removed through the mother's circulation via the placenta. Fetal waste is not stored in the placenta.
