In old age (oder than 65 or 70) an adults bones become more brittle and beak easier due to diseases like osteoporosis. This is compounded by the decrease in many older people of agility due to musclre and join t problems which increases slips trips and falls - thus kore chances to break brittle bones.
Younger folks up the age of ten or so have more pliable bones with more soft components near their ends, reducing the frequency of breakage under normal wear and stress. The bones have lower cross section tan adult bones and can'r withstand breaking stress as easily. They however are prone to take mor athletic chances with their games and adventures which may increase the chances of bone breaking forces. Old folks are, after all, not as often seen climbing trees.
Between these two extremes there is a population with sturdy bones, good reflexes and vision and enough smarts to avoid some of life's gravity related accidents. However this is the same group that goes int foe skateboards, ice climbing and heavy duty sports. These all put bones in danger.
