- Yes it can also mean that they are asking you for something. Also if you kiss your cat on the nose often, it might be simply doing what you do to the cat. Many cat and dog owners kiss their pet on the nose. The pet will get use to this, and do the same back.
If it is not that, then most likely it is because it is making a gesture that it wants something ie your attention, food, or just a simple habit.

A cat is among many animals that use their noses to taste what they are smelling. Also, that helps wild animals detect danger. If you have seen a cat smelling something, keep watching...it will lick its nose too.

∙ 13y agoThere are two schools of thought for this. Firstly, cats will rub themselves as a sign of affection, especially rubbing faces or noses. Cats do this to rub their scent on you, and yours scent on them. Cats have many scent glands on their face, and "sharing" scents is just a way of saying "we have a close bond".

When they are babies, kittens push their paws against their mother's belly, to get the milk flowing. They look like they are kneading bread dough, basically.
Most cats continue this kneading behavior for the rest of their lives, as it reminds them of their mothers. They will knead blankets, or clothes, or people. Even very old cats do this.
