If the US stricken gun laws, then outlaws will get better guns. They might be prepared if the civilians are armed. Some might say the police will handle it, but it takes them a few minutes or sooner to get there. When civilians are armed then t's a fair fight life and dead. When civilians are armed and the bad guys are armed then it's a fair fight which no one wants. When civilians are unarmed and bad guys are armed then the bad guys might accomplished what they want and some/most don't think the police can stop them.
