The difference between 12 hour clock and a 24 hour clock is that when you say 1:00am for a 12 hour clock you would say 0100 hours
Probably because people will get confused if they tried to use military time (which is based on the 24 hours clock. 2000 hrs is 8pm, 12+8=20).
