Why do creditors call people who do not owe them money?

They can use any means necessary to obtain a debt. If they suspect you have any information concerning the where-abouts of a certain person, they have the right to call you at least once. What I do is tell them that the person they are looking for does not live here and to stop calling or I will report them to the FCC. If the company still has people calling you then play along and take the message info like their name, company name, and a number to get ahold of them and that's all you need to file a formal harassment complaint.
