Because in the anger, hatred, and rage, they have only one mission left in their miserable existence, and that is to see each and every human being dead and damned for all eternity. They are fallen angels, and they retain all their angelic power and might. They do not sleep, they have no bodies, and no bodily needs, and they are evil itself. Individually, we are no match for even the least demon, and without Christ, we are lost.
If demons follow us with the intention of doing harm, they must be quite unable to do so. If they could do harm, why would they follow you rather than complete their terrible plan? If we say that they are waiting their chance because the person being followed has invoked the power of Jesus Christ, then why are demons still unable to harm atheists or, for example, Hindus?
The easier explanation is that demons do not follow you. If you have the feeling of being followed, speak to your pastor or, better still, get advice from a consultant or medical professional.
