The dispute takes so long because the credit reporting agency has to investigate any and all disputes.

usually 7 years, the trick is to get your credit report every year and dispute each item on it. When they can't find the records, they have to take it off. So keep trying.
You can always dispute anything on your credit report. You will start by contacting the 3 credit bureaus: Equifax (800) 685-1111, Trans Union (800) 888-4213, and Experian (888) 397-3742 They can walk you through the process. They key is that anything you dispute will be brought to the attention of the company that reported it, and they have 30 days to respond to your claim. If they do not respond... there is a law whereby THEY HAVE TO TAKE IT OFF YOUR CREDIT!!! Good Luck!!
The first thing to do is to report any dispute you have on your report. The Bureau will evaluate and when proven the correction should be made, then they will correct it. However, the removal is not instant. It will take sometime before it gets totally eradicated.

Yes a dispute can take 30 days. When I had a dispute on my credit file I signed up to Credit Repair who helped me challenge the negative item I noticed on my file and raised a dispute with the creditor who were not able to verify why it was negative so they informed the creditor that since they were not able to verify it they are required by law to stop reporting them. They did offer me a free 10-minute credit analysis when we started. Hope this helps check it out: yazing .com/deals/creditrepair/Respot
You'll have to be patient and give the creditor 30 days to update your credit report. If it isn't done by then, simply dispute it and the bad information will be removed.
You can have a credit dispute, if the agency reporting the bad judgment does not get back with the company disputing the judgment within 30 days, it HAS to be removed from your credit report. Example: I filed bankruptcy(?) on a auto repo. and the company did not take it off my credit report, I had my credit card company do a credit dispute, they did not respond within 30 days, and it was removed from my credit report.

I would dispute it with the credit card companies and once they will have to take care of it or will either not be able to contact the company and therefore have to take it off.
