This basically means that when the diver is underneath the water, the pressure down there is 3 times the pressure at normal land level. This means that the watch won't crack or break at three atmospheres worth of pressure.

Why do space suits have to be pressurized to three atmospheres?

Perhaps for testing purposes, to check for leaks. There would be no reason to do it with an astronaut inside, in fact it would be very dangerous. A blowout would give the astronaut the "bends" and quite possibly kill him. If I remember correctly, in space they run about 1/3 to 1/4 of sea level pressure, of pure oxygen, in order to keep the suits limber enough to move around in. Too much pressure inside and the suit would "starfish", splaying out and leaving the astronaut nearly immobile. The first spacewalker was a Russian, who had to release a lot of his air pressure in a hurry so he could get back inside his craft!

What are the major planets in your solar system?

There are 8 planets in the solar system, not just 3. They are: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. There are 3 planets that are "Earth-like" in that they have gaseous atmospheres separate from their solid surfaces: Earth, Venus, and Mars. These planets display an array of atmospheric states: Venus has one that is very dense and hot, while Mars' is very cold and thin. Earth is the only one of the three atmospheres that is not almost entirely carbon dioxide.

What are the 3 features that the outer planets have in common?

These are the four outer gas giant planets; Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. They are all much larger than the inner planets, they all have a similar composition (gaseous atmospheres, mainly of Hydrogen and Helium) and they each have many moons and a ring system. None of the inner planets have a ring system and there are only three moons in total for the four inner planets (one for Earth and two in orbit around Mars).

What does it mean when divers watches say they are 'pressurised to three atmospheres''?

An atmosphere is sometimes used as a unit of pressure, meaning approximately 15 pounds per square inch. When a diver descends, the weight of the water above him exerts pressure on his body. At a depth of approximately 32 feet, the weight of the water will amount to 15 pounds per square inch, or one additional atmosphere. So three atmospheres means the diver is experiencing 45 pounds per square inch on his body at a depth of about 64 feet.

Different Types of Diving Watches?

If you are a diver, a diving watch is an essential tool in your arsenal. Diving watches are made specifically for use underwater, designed to continue to tick even at the lowest depths. The type of diving watch that is best for you depends on your diving experience, how deep you plan to dive, and of course your budget. Read on for information on a few of the most popular types of diving watches.Analog Diving WatchesAnalog diving watches are by far the most common type, with two or three hands that point to numbers around the dial of the watch. Analog watches are in contrast to digital watches, which simply display the numbered time. For diving purposes, look for an analog watch with a unidirectional bezel.Digital Diving WatchesThere are a few different types of digital diving watches on the market. Although not as popular as analog diving watches, digital watches often come with some sort of backing light that makes them easy to read underwater. If you are a night diver, consider buying a digital watch with a good backing light. Also look for numbers that are easy to read at first glance.Another great feature of digital diving watches is that they often come with a stopwatch feature. Many times, a stopwatch isn't possible with an analog watch. The stopwatch feature is used to time the dive and alert divers as to when they should return to the surface, so it can be quite important. Digital diving watches are usually a bit more affordable than analog varieties.Chronograph Diving WatchesFor the best of both worlds, a chronograph diving watch combines some of the features of both analog and digital watches. A chronograph diving watch resembles an analog watch in that it has a round dial with two or three hands. Chronograph watches also have between one and four smaller dials set in the watch face, and these dials act as stopwatches for divers. Divers can then track multiple things, such as dive time, time at the bottom, and so on.
