Not positive but I think it has something to do with the pheromones/scent of the blood.
I've never seen a female do it but my male licks and cleans the tomcats cuts and his jaws click like he's shivering and he drools.
He does the same thing when the female cats come in heat.
A camera's shutter is similar to the human eyelid, so in a sense eyes do have 'shutters' Obviously :D
Sinning.

Dog mouth actually have some antibacterial-y things in their mouths so yupp they do ^_^ plus it feels awesome. i scratch my own scabs ! ..all this scratchin talk has got me itchy... HERE BOY
they both are used to take in, puncture, and chew up prey.
Carnassial teeth often cause puncture wounds when a cat bites a human.
That should be the shutter.
Dogs mouths are severely dirty. The only reason we can "kiss" them, and let them lick our wounds, is because, most of their germs/viruses/etc, are species specific.. IE: we can't give them staph or anything... Compared to a human, a dog has a very nasty/dirty mouth (well, that depends on how you look at it, I mean, some humans are capable of some pretty amazing trash talk). ---- If my memory serves me correctly, I believe the Mythbusters on the Discovery channel tested this and determined that a dog's mouth has fewer bacteria than a human. At least that would be fewer bacteria that show up on the culture plates. I don't think anyone can answer the question as asked--I mean, who has time and money to go around swabbing samples from the mouth of every animal on earth? So they put this question under dogs because there is a myth, I guess you would call it, that dogs have very clean mouths and that puppies can heal wounds by licking them.
Squids mouths may be beaks but they have jaws and there beaks are there teeth. They use there beaks to eat and for protection.
Another answerMany people may have heard a myth that dogs' mouths are cleaner than the mouths of human beings. This rumor is likely to stem from the fact that dogs are often seen licking their wounds, which rarely get infected. However, people who believe that dogs' mouths are cleaner than humans' mouths are greatly mistaken, according to veterinarians who have spoken on the subject. Most humans have a strong belief in good hygiene, and brush their teeth at least once or twice every day. Human mouths rarely come into contact with external bacteria. Dogs' mouths, in contrast, are rarely cleaned in most cases. Dogs also have a tendency to sniff around and eat bacteria-filled waste - including rancid food and feces - whenever they are given the opportunity to do so. Contrary to popular belief, dogs' mouths are far dirtier than the mouths of the typical human being.
Nothing, they grow for free in peoples mouths.
