Well I've been in the healthcare for thirty years and have never known that to happen. Typically the nurse or medical assistant would say , "Take of..." and leave the room. In fact, male patients are seldom asked to strip unless the problem is genito-urinary or rectal. Here's the deal; you're buying a service from the doc. If you're asked to disrobe and you don't think it's necessary, just don't do it. You'll still get seen and unless the doc is a control freak or a perv it will not be a big deal. If he or she complains find a new doc.
Conversely, male docs typically have their nurses / assistants ask all their female patients to strip at least to their underwear and then provide a skimpy "gown," that many times is not much bigger than a dinner napkin. When I go to the doc for a respiratory infection the guy sticks the stethoscope down my shirt in front, up my shirt in back and gives me a script. When my wife goes for the same ailment the nurse says, take off everything but your underwear. Why? Come on don't be either naive or stupid. Wake up ladies and assert yourselves.
