We are endowed with seven basic forces. They are,

1. Dreaming force - Indra

2. Illusory force - Shakti

3. Voluntary force - Brahma

4. Semi voluntary force - Vishnu

5. Involuntary force - Shiva

6. Status altering force - Shani

7. Compulsive force - Yama.

The Semi voluntary force:

In the Semi voluntary force a layer of voluntary force is trapped between two layers of involuntary force. Beyond the layers of Involuntary force are the positive and negative attitudes. Thus, this force maintains status quo by itself.

'I', the reference state of our life:

The central part of the Voluntary component is what we call 'I'. It is nothing but the state in which our muscle tone is 50%.

'I' is the reference state for our entire life. All emotions are produced in reference to our 'I' only.

Unique features of the semi voluntary forces:

1. The Semi voluntary force is unique in that it is the only basic force that has voluntary (manual) and involuntary (automatic) components.

2. 'I' exists in just this force.

3. It is the only force that can unite all the activities of our life and is yet under our control. The other forces either don't unite all the activities or they are not under our control.

4. It is the epitome of the basic forces and from this we can have a glimpse of all the other forces.

5. It is the default force of human beings.

The Semi voluntary force and rebirth:

Normally 'I' is the reference state for our life. 'I' corresponds to 50% skeletal muscle tone. If 'I' makes our life extremely emotional we can take a new reference state with a different muscle tone, say 60%. This would change our life outwardly. However, the inner life would remain unchanged.

The Semi voluntary force is ideally suited to change our life. We can use the voluntary (manual) component of this force to change our life. If the changed life is acceptable to all we can make it permanent using the Involuntary component. This is symbolic of new life. Discarding of the new life is symbolic of death.

The endless cycles of birth and death:

We can start a new third life even if the second life is not tolerable.

Thus, sooner or later we become addicted to this. These cycles make our 'I' sacred to us because without our 'I' we can't change our life in a way acceptable to others.

God and 'I':

We can define god as universally accepted virtual 'I'. To have real faith in god we must discard our real 'I' and start using god in its place. Thus, to have real faith in god we must avoid using the word 'I'.

Thus, until we stop the endless cycles of birth and death we can't discard our 'I'. With our discarding our 'I' we can't surrender to god and thus make use of the mighty involuntary component of the semi voluntary force.

What is the cycle of birth death and rebirth?

The cycle of rebirth is referred to as samsara like the constant ebb and flow of the oceanic tide. ^ the answer above is too vague. Samsara is the cycle of life, death, and rebirth/reincarnation, and it is a Hindu concept as well as a Buddhist concept. Hindus and Buddhists believe that the soul wears the physical body like an article of clothing, and that there is no such thing as death. When the physical body "dies," the spirit leaves and moves onto the next physical body, reborn, dies, is reborn, and so on. It is an endless cycle, and the only way to escape the cycle (mokhsha) is to achieve nirvana (according to Buddhist philosophy), which is the absence of suffering. To do so, one must purge oneself of desires, for desires are what spawn suffering, and when one achieves this, the cycle is broken.

How do Hindus feel about death?

Hindus, as the universal truth also goes, man is mortal. A living being born has to die. Hindus believe that soul is imperishable and immortal but the body perishes with death. After death the soul changes into a new body and that is the theory of rebirth. It is just like a change of dress from one birth to another.

What is the importance of nirvana in Buddhism?

Nirvana (nibbana) is the goal of Buddhism. It is the cessation of suffering, the end of the seemingly endless cycle of birth and death, and the end of all mental defilements.
