Wild and feral horses typically foal during the spring so that there will be ample food for them to eat while they are nursing their foals, then once the foal has been weaned in about 6 months time they will have adequate food to put weight on for the winter. Also the warmer months allow the foal to grow bigger before winter sets in and the foal has time to adjust to the drop in temperature.
Reguardless of the breed horses usually give birth in spring.

Horses can have foals at any time of the year. But it usually takes place in the early spring to early summer. The mare will be pregnant for 11 months before having her foal. So if thinking of breeding horses try to breed around the same month you want her to have her foal. Signs of soon due date: flanks drop (the rump will not be rounded anymore; it will drop lower than usualy), the stomach will drop. Those are the signs I had when my mare had her filly. There may be more signs but that's my best advice. Good luck.
