It turns out that yawning in horses has puzzled several people as there are many postings on the topic. Physiologically (in both horses and humans), yawning is associated with a variety of neurochemical substances that are secreted in the brain in association with changes in state of arousal.
Yawning can also be a sign of medical problems, although it's less frequent.
Who would have thought that yawning could mean so many things! The good news is that most of the time, it is harmless.
Have a veterinarian check his teeth, and make sure the bit you are using isn't causing irritation. Horses yawn naturally, but shouldn't do it excessively. Also check the feed you are using, and also, perhaps, your horse is just bored. Try hanging up a salt lick, or giving him/her a toy, and see if that helps.
Well they yawn the same way you do. They pull air through their mouths, but it stops at the back of thier mouthes/throat and then is pushed back out again.
You can't stop yawning because when you yawn your body is trying to get more oxygen into you body to try and stay awake. If you are yawning constantly your body is trying to keep you awake, the longer you stay awake, the more you will yawn.
They will feel dizzy. Weak. Tired and they will keep yawning.
Yawning is not a disease.
if rude and yawning are defined as such i don't see any reason why the act of yawning be rude. yawning is physiologic. would urinating and defecating be rude also?
The cause in not know.
Yawning too much can prove to be fatal. My aunt didn't sleep for a week, kept yawning, and died. You're in trouble
Keep your horse and get an old car. :)
The yawning is the males showing off their teeth to one another. Male guinea pigs have to find the most domanent so they make chattering noises and may fight if one doesnt back down.
Yawning is actually putting out (?) the stress in your body, so it is a good thang...
Yawning is associated with tiredness, stress, overwork, lack of stimulation, or boredom. Yawning can also be a powerful non-verbal message with several possible meanings, depending on the circumstances. In humans, yawning has an infectious quality, i.e. seeing a person yawning, or just thinking of yawning, can trigger yawning which is a typical example of positive feedback. Infectious yawning has also been noted in chimpanzees. The primary reason behind yawning is to control brain temperature. It cools off your brain, much like a fan cools off the inside of a computer. The claim that yawning is caused by lack of oxygen has not been substantiated scientifically. Some claim that yawning is not caused by lack of oxygen, for the reason that yawning allegedly reduces oxygen intake compared to normal respiration. Another speculated reason for yawning is nervousness and is also claimed to help increase the state of alertness of a person-paratroopers have been noted to yawn in the moments before they exit the aircraft.
You can put a heavy blanket on a horse in the winter to help keep the horse warm and keep dirt and mud off. Also you can keep a very lightweight blanket on the horse in the summer to keep dirt, dust, and mostly flies off your horse.
"I'm yawning. I'm yawning some more."
