Survival. Feet have less receptors to protect you from getting cut from rocks, and hard things on the ground, also all your body weight is on your feet.. You probably wont live long with out hands, so for catching food in cold weathers, and getting less pain. Try getting cold water, put your hands in it, then but a couple of drops on your back. Which affected you more?
