Humans sleep in balls because it is the natural maternal position. When a baby is in the womb they are usually in a ball. It can also be if you are mentally worried or scared about something it helps calm you and to feel safe, like when you're with your mother, when young. Another reason is subconsciously you do it to keep warm, like when in the womb. So basically the bottom line is because you either feel; safe, warm, comfortable ect, because you were in a ball, in your mothers womb. <3
