It's just a guess, but if a kidnapped person is held for a long time, he/she only knows that in his or her life. Also -- if they were looking for love at the time of the kidnapping, then they may actually see their abductor as someone who loves them, especially if they had felt neglected before that. It's the same sort of idea as falling in love with an abuser.
