Every cell needs to have a supply of oxygen. In a very small organism, all of the cells are close enough to the surface of the organism to draw oxygen directly from the atmosphere or have the oxygen diffuse through the intercellular fluid to reach the cells. Larger organisms, however, have too many cell layers for the oxygen to diffuse through and reach all the cells at a high enough concentration to maintain life. Therefore, these organisms have evolved methods of circulating either atmospheric air through their bodies or have evolved special organs to harvest and concentrate oxygen from the atmosphere along with a delivery method to get the oxygen to the organism's cells.

Tigers are large, solid animals. Their structure is similar to other large wild cats. Their skeletons are held together by thick bones and their internal organs are protected by these bones.
Most animals have the following organs in the abdomen: stomach, liver, kidneys, small and large intestines, reproductive organs. You will find some additional organs in the abdomens of arthropods such as: the gizzard, crop, spinnerets, book lungs, spiracles and the associated tracheae.
In order to handle the many different proceses required to handle a very complex machine, the fact is that most other large animals have aproximately the same number of organs.
There is no organ responsible for protecting the lungs (one may argue the skin), but the ribcage plays a large (if not the largest) role in protecting the lungs. The diaphragm is the primary muscle for breathing and the intercostal muscles (between ribs) are secondary respiratory muscles.
The African lion is very special because it is a large part of the food chain. These animals are majestic and very important to the people of Africa.
