Girl hamsters are territorial and also protective of their young so they will fight other hamsters. Most hamsters (excluding dwarves) prefer to live alone and may fight if caged with another hamster.

∙ 12y agoBecause Syrian Hamsters cannot be kept in the same cage. They need separate cages or one of them will die.
Syrian hamsters are solitary so females will attack each other, males will attack each other and males and females will attack each other. They can cause each other serious injury or even kill each other.
Their solitary nature develops as they mature so they are fine as babies but once they reach 5-6 weeks of age they will start fighting.
The exception is when a female is in season, which happens around every 4 days, then she will not attack a male and will allow him to breed with her instead.

∙ 13y agoFemale hamsters are technically considered to be more aggressive than male hamsters. Although that is not always true, the female hamster has a motherly instinct whether or not she has young. But, in most cases, it isn't the gender of hamster that makes them more aggressive.

Try gradually introduing them to each other, then put them together and see how they get on, move them into seperate cages if they start to fight, check regually for wounds if they live together. Dwarf hamsters are generally better for living in pairs.
