Through these extremely complicated circuits, you get intellectual functions like thinking, reasoning, imagination and memory. Add to it you have emotions, like love, anger, hate, sympathy, selfishness, filling of sex, hunger, thrust. You see a snake (or cockroach if you are a girl.) and heart rate doubles in 5 seconds. All these things happen through complicated current flowing through nerve fibers. That is why there are so many branches in nerve cells.
