It's a psychological thing. And it's not always men. People drink for many, many reasons. When somebody goes to the bar to get drunk they talk to people and have the most intimate conversations. When they do they uncover their most deepest secrets. And most importantly they will purposely talk to the people who have it worse, so they feel better about themselves, but as they do this they unconsciously think they feel better because they are drinking. So they will come back again and again. This is also why people will risk driving drunk instead of buying a 12 pack and drinking home. Alcohol slows down the brain and so that might simulate a lazy feeling. Alcohol is also addictive, so drinking a lot can lead to Alcoholism. People may also drink because of peer pressure.
