It's a showing-off thing. They want to show you that they have lots of friends so that you think they are popular and lots of ex's so that you feel lucky that you have them and the other girls don't (anymore). He wants you to think that he is in high demand. That way you won't let him go. I'm not saying that it is a good thing to do or that it works, but theres the reason they do it. -DJ Craig
